Meet our founder and formulator

Amanda Richberg

After graduating from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and english, Amanda started her journey as a cosmetic chemist at Ross Organic, a leading raw materials distributor in the cosmetic industry in California. There, she learned to formulate skincare, haircare, household products using best in class ingredients from suppliers such as BASF, Schulke (now Ashland Preservatives), Floratech (now Cargill), Hallstar, and many more. She also joined various supplier’s day, in-cosmetics exhibitions to connect with customers.

With her passion in makeup, Amanda moved on to a global color cosmetics contract manufacturer, Weckerle Cosmetics. At Weckerle, she commercialized 500+ cosmetics & OTC products for multinational and indie brands that are sold all over the world.

She has also worked as a product developer and formulator for Amyris (Rose Inc. and ecofabulous). Her latest stint was at Wella Company, working as a Senior Scientist in the R&D team for professional OPI nail products.

With 10 years of varied experience in the beauty industry, Amanda is determined to continue to create products that delight consumers.

Why is the company called Cosmea?

Cosmea, also known as cosmos flower, is resilient, delicate and beautiful. We hope to create products with those qualities for our customers. Cosmea is also a favorite flower of Amanda’s mother that she plants every spring.
